First there was the Monster Mash... Now there's a Mummy Dance!
CHARACULA's music is is a blend of metal, dance and the old drive-in movie theater. Its monster driven rock and synth sound was developed by two students at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. It has since evolved into a sophisticated dance-metal groove, though the "monster, chick and metal" theme has always been at the heart of CHARACULA!
A lot of talent went into making this track. The line up on theMummy Dance is:
Vocals - Characula
Guitars - Sean Lacefield, Bernie Godwin
Bass - Brad Cummings
Drums - Sean Lacefield
Oud - Alexi Rabay
Synths - Jeff McCullough
Producer - Sean Lacefield/C. Anaclerio
Engineer - Marc Greene at the Greene Room
Writers - Characula/Steve Almos
CHARACULA is currently working on her debut album. Some of the tracks have to do with monsters and some with love (and some with both!), but all have that twisted, classic B-movie flavor, catchy melodies, and over-the-top metal music!
From Cairo to Luxor, we're trippin' right into the sun
Mummies dancing in the streets
DJs making all the beats
Sacred temples come alive
As our two worlds collide
Get down with the mummies and do the cha cha
Get down with the mummies, it's not that macabre
Get down with the mummies and shake yourba ka
From Cairo to Luxor to Aswan, let's shake it, right into the sun
The desire of a woman... mixed with the blood of a she-monster... it's CHARACULA! In late 2012, a virtually unknown CHARACULA scored airplay at radio stations across the country with her first release, The Mummy Dance. CHARACULA again puts her own horrifyingly sensual spin on her second release, Ready for Love. Enjoy! ...And beware!! A Dito Godwin Production 2013
